Sadly we won’t be able to run the STEM Club on the 18th due to volunteer sickness. We’ll be back the following week though!
*********************************************************************************************************************************
Our Community STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Club takes place every Thursday between 3.30 and 6pm during term-time. The sessions are free of charge and can be joined on a drop-in basis with no prior booking required. The planned activities are mostly suited for children aged 8 and older; younger children are welcome to join, though may need a bit of extra support from a parent or carer.
The activities will vary from session to session and include: STEM themed craft, Thymio robots, Lego MINDSTORMS and the Bristol Version of Minecraft. Children will also get the opportunity to get involved in the citizen science project WeCount, allowing them to monitor and analyse traffic data for Muller Rd, and use the information to help devise informed solutions to challenges around mobility and pollution.
The club is co-developed by Old Library volunteers and the DETI Inspire Team at UWE. It receives further support from the STEM Ambassador Hub for the West of England.
The sessions are run by community volunteers, STEM Ambassadors and UWE students. Please note that the club is not intended to provide childcare, so children should be suitably supervised (the café will be open and serve tea, coffee, cake and snacks).
Every Thursday during term time. (Please check Facebook for updates or last minute cancellations)
