Children’s Climate Literature Event

Date/Time

Date(s) - 24/02/2022

Details

This session, led by academics from UWE English Literature and History, will focus on how children’s authors and illustrators tell the story of nature and climate change. Looking at a range of stories from picture books to extracts from novels to poetry and even posters that have raised our awareness of deforestation, we will talk about how stories change the way we think about the world.

There will be plenty of time not just to read and discuss stories, but to really think about the language we use to discuss our environment. Here children will have the opportunity to discuss their rights in relation to climate change, find their own voices, and write and tell their own tales (or draw their own posters) about the beauty and vulnerability of world around them.

Children will leave with a list of fabulous stories they can get out of the library about nature and the world.

For any questions, please contact: Sarah.Robertson@uwe.ac.uk or Ann.Alston@uwe.ac.uk.
