The session on 2 December will be on the topic of “Recycling City”: build a city with recycled materials under the guidance of some real life engineers (aka STEM Ambassadors Laurie & Calum). Bring along a few bits of (clean) recycling if you can!

The Community STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Club takes place every Thursday between 3.30 and 6pm during term-time. The sessions are free of charge and can be joined on a drop-in basis with no prior booking required. The planned activities are mostly suited for children aged 8 and older; younger children are welcome to join, though may need a bit of extra support from a parent or carer.
The activities vary from session to session, depending on volunteer availability, but usually include some of the following: Scratch Code for Kids, Lego Mindstorms, STEM themed craft & building activities, Thymio robots, the Bristol Version of Minecraft, along with a selection of STEM themed toys. Please check our events & activities calendar for info on upcoming sessions.
The club is co-developed by Old Library volunteers and the DETI Inspire Team at UWE. It receives further support from the STEM Ambassador Hub for the West of England.
The sessions are run by community volunteers, STEM Ambassadors and UWE students. Please note that the club is not intended to provide childcare, so children should be suitably supervised (the café is be open and serve tea, coffee, cake and snacks).
Every Thursday during term time.

Covid-19 Precautions:
In the interest of everyone’s safety, we would like to ask participants to wash & sanitise their hands upon arrival, and regularly throughout the sessions. Please do not come to the club if you experience any common cold symptoms, even if your Lateral Flow Test (LFT) is negative. We would like to ask all parents and carers to wear a mask during the sessions (they can be taken off to eat and drink). We also very much encourage regular LFT testing, to help pick up any asymptomatic infections and stop the spread to vulnerable people.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
